I went to Singapore on a business trip in January 2022 and I combined it to go earlier there on weekend to have some private free time and explore the country. Of course this means also, time for yoga. I first visited 2Be yoga studio, a cute hot yoga studio located in Singapore. With the entering, one can feel the energy and the vibes coming from this place, strong community spirit of practitioners and great teachers. I took e84 class taught by Alma. The class was so sweaty, challenging and motivating. Alma is a great experienced teacher. When I was struggling towards the end, Alma said, "We don't skip postures, we try" which motivated just to keep trying even if I couldn't the posture perfectly. I felt so good, this feeling of fulfillment, never giving up and just trying ...it feels so good! Highly recommending to take a class there if you are in Singapore :)
The other yoga studio which I visited while in Singapore was Yoga movement studio. They have several locations in Singapore. I visited the Orchard Flagship place and took the 26&2 (bikram) class which they called Monster Hot, love how they name it xD
It was definitely a different experience of this sequence class from what I have been used to. There was music in the background, instructions were a bit different from the original bikram dialogue (eagle, arms movements, situps, spine twist), the room was not that hot, the teacher had also his cheating list on the wall to have a look at and did not do any corrections (maybe he was just new to teaching, I think). Although I am very Bikram yoga addicted and love the exact sequence following all the details, I keep my mind open when visiting new studios so I enjoyed this different experience of the standard bikram yoga class.
Singapore is a fascinating country and I really enjoyed the time there - visiting the Botanic Gardens (lizards walking along with you, you'd better watch your step xD), Arab neighborhood, the Haw Par Villa (highly recommended, it's such a funny place to get good photo shots), the Garden by the Bay (amazing lights show in the evening), and many many nice food places: Potato Head (good burgers!), Level 33 (for drinks with a stunning view to the Marina Bay), Din Tai Fung (best dumplings ever!) ; Long Bar at the Iconic Raffles Hotel (the birthplace of the Singapore Sling cocktail, invented in 1915 to allow ladies of that period to disguise their alcoholic drinks as punch and drink in public; a touristic thing to do).
