Visiting Rio de Janeiro in February felt like stepping into a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. Copacabana Beach, sunrise over the ocean, golden light spilling across the water—it’s the kind of place that instantly makes you question why you don’t already live there.

What made this trip even more special was the incredible kindness of Roberta, the owner of the local Bikram studio. We hadn’t even met before, but she welcomed me with open arms, offered me a place to stay, and let me teach at her studio. That kind of generosity is rare and unforgettable. I felt truly honored—and deeply grateful.

The studio had such a great vibe. You could feel the energy of a growing, connected community. The students were present, passionate, and full of heart. It was beautiful to witness what Roberta has built there—how she’s nurtured something so meaningful in such a vibrant, wild city.

And then… the ocean. I don’t even know how to put it into words. Waking up to the sound of waves, the smell of salty air, and watching the sunrise over the ocean—it hit me on a soul level. It calmed me, fueled me, reminded me I’m right where I need to be. Beach life just hits different.

Yes, Rio is busy—crowded streets, packed beaches, constant movement—but somehow it works. The chaos has rhythm. The sunsets slow you down. And that contrast? It’s pure magic.

Roberta also made sure I experienced the real Rio. She showed me around downtown, cooked delicious meals, and made me feel so at home. (Roberta, if you’re reading this—you have a special place in my heart.)

Of course, I had to do the tourist classics. I visited Christ the Redeemer, and yes, it was packed, but it was still absolutely worth it. The presence of that statue, standing tall over the city, is powerful. And the view from Sugarloaf Mountain? Unreal. Breathtaking. Worth every minute of the line and the lift ride up.

Rio gave me everything—sunshine, community, inspiration, gratitude. I left with a full heart and a clear mind, and I hope to be back sooner than later.
